I one of the channels in a snake like DMX cable XLR audio?
I am the light and sound technician in a small concert hall. For show that some waiting, I need to run a line of FOH DMX step to get projectors rent under our control. Can I return to an audio snakes? Or would it be dangerous? Would it introduce distortions in the audio? There no other way to connect to honor our current DMX channel without having to buy new cables and our budget for new cable is not available.
It will work fine – the worst that can happen is that you might for a little disruption on the lines of micro, but it unlikely. DMX are often run on regular XLR mic cable. DMX signal is a low voltage control – will not break something. My only reservation would be to ensure that no one mixes the microphone and cables for the lighting of the snake. When the microphone transmits the power line Phantom of the console and you have connected your DMX in the accident, the light may be damaged.
