I am filming an online commercial, what’s a fair asking price? Also, what’s a decent camera to rent/use?
A business contacted me recently asking me to shoot and edit a commercial which is going to be shown on their website. It is going to be about 3 minutes and they already have the layout. I need to rent the equipment as well. So the boom mic, the camera, and the tripod. What would be a decent camera to rent and what would be a fair asking price?
Seeing as you are shooting for the web I would rent a Panasonic HVX 200 or a Sony EX 3. Both are great HD cameras and would rent for about $400 a day. Shoot it in HD just in case they later want to use it.
You’re going to need lights as well. Contact your local Grip and Lighting house and see if they can cut you a deal on a lighting kit. Kino Flos are really nice soft lights to use if you are doing interviews.
