Revenue from direct sales / MLM is an income and is taxable. Capital investment depend on whether you speculate or invest in the long term gain from rental income (the taxpayer). If you buy and sell real estate in a short period of time, it does not gain capital, this is speculation and the profit is taxable. As far as I know, play the stock market gains are not taxed.
