Metal Floor
Rabbit hutch floor? Metal bars? BAD?!?
II have a rabbit hutch for my rabbit and the floor has metal bars, not bedding. Is this bad for the rabbits feet? Should I take out the metal bars?
the bars are ABOVE the bedding…the um…waste…falls down to the bedding and i clean it up…she uses a litter box but its just in case she duznt use the litter box sometimes
Yes it is bad for their feet.
This is how i had my cage first set up when i got my bunny. It makes it alot harder to clean up its waste then it needs to be also.
What we did, was get carpet and lay it on top of the metal bars. And we got him a litter box and filled it with litter. This made things a WHOLE lot easier to clean up.
Our bunny also has long wool so the bedding used to get stuck in his wool and he would leave pieces all over the house.
I highly reccommend covering the bars with something, even if its just a towel or cloth and getting him a litter box.
p.s. Your rabbit has probably already picked a favorite corner to urinate in. That will be the corner to put the litter box in.
