Should I be using SCART or RCA to connect my Cable Tv box to my DVD Recorder?

Hi. Ive got a Sky tv cable box (new zealand) with a Scart out as well as a set of rca out, and on my panasonic dvd recorder I have a scart input as well an rca input. Currently the two are connected by an rca to rca cable, but I was wondering if you could please tell me, would I benefit from a scart to scart cable instead? Is the quality better, or worse? and if it is better, is it very noticeable? Thanks a lot.

There are a couple of different “RCA” connections. SCART has video component signals like S-Video, so it’s pretty good. If you are using RCA component video connections, like one for red, one for green, and one for blue, then that’s just as good (maybe better) than SCART. If you’re using RCA composite, like one yellow plug for video and a red/white pair for audio, then SCART is way better.
